B2B travel payments are getting a facelift with Amadeus’ new spinoff platform Outpayce.
The travel tech company is turning its current B2B payments business into its own platform to expand Amadeus’ travel payments business line, according to a Monday (Nov. 14) press release.
Amadeus has also applied for an eMoney license to give Outpayce the ability to offer businesses a pre-paid virtual card within its B2B wallet platform, which travel agencies can then use to pay travel providers such as airlines and hotels.
David Doctor, the executive vice president of payments at Amadeus, and future CEO of Outpayce, is optimistic about Outpayce’s introduction as a B2B travel payments resource.
“Through our application for an eMoney license combined with our investment in talent and technology, we’re well placed to improve our current service to customers as well as expand the range of services, geographies, and customers we serve,” he said in the press release.
Doctor will transition to his new role as Outpayce’s CEO on Jan. 1.
The importance of digital payments availability for B2B travel is reinforced in the findings from a March PYMNTS report, “Digital Economy Payments: Going Digital to Pay for Travel and Restaurant Dining.”
This report found that mobile devices are being used more frequently to purchase travel services. Travel service purchases via mobile device climbed to 48% in January, up from 44% in December and 43% in November 2021.
By launching this new B2B travel payments platform, Outpayce will tap into the ever-growing demand for a faster, digital way for businesses to make travel payments.
