The U.K. delivery service Deliveroo has formed an agreement with the French frozen food company Picard Groupe SAS to provide countrywide express deliveries.
As Bloomberg News reported on Monday (Nov. 15), the deal will see Deliveroo’s express delivery service offered in more than 100 cities throughout France.
The partnership marks Deliveroo’s third delivery with a major food provider in France, and is also part of the company’s larger effort to expand its rapid grocery offering and enjoy the fruits of a bustling quick-commerce sector. According to Deliveroo, grocery delivery makes up 7% of the total value of transactions on its app.
Deliveroo also plans to launch Hop — a rapid grocery delivery service that uses dark stores — in markets such as Hong Kong, France and Italy. The company also works with traditional supermarkets to deliver from their stores.
Picard, meanwhile, was the leader in a recent OC&C annual survey of France’s most favored retail brands, and has 1,050 shops throughout the country, Bloomberg noted.
