Payfare Increases Fuel Cashback for DoorDash Drivers to 10%

Payfare, the FinTech that allows instant payouts and digital banking solutions for the gig economy, has increased fuel purchase rewards for DoorDash workers in the United States, the Toronto-based company announced Tuesday (March 22).

Cardholders with a Payfare DasherDirect debit card can now earn 10% cash back on gas, up from 2%.

“With gas prices hitting all-time highs in recent days, rewards like this will help Dashers stay on the road and keep their earnings in their pockets,” said Marco Margiotta, CEO and founding partner of Payfare, in a statement.

The DasherDirect app is available for iOS and Android mobile users from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Stride Bank issues the DasherDirect Business Prepaid Visa Card.

Customers will automatically receive the 10% cash back for on every fuel purchase until the end of April. Based on gas prices, Payfare said it expects that DasherDirect users will receive cashback of 43 cents per gallon.

In light of current gas prices, DoorDash also launched a cashback program for their drivers.

The delivery platform announced the move last week. Qualifying drivers can get rewards ranging from $1.65 to $2 per gallon. The rewards program for DoorDash drivers started on Thursday (March 17) and is scheduled to continue through April.

Last fall, Payfare announced an expanded partnership with Stride Bank that includes faster ways for gig workers to get paid 24/7 through The Clearing House’s real-time payments (RTP) network.

With its connection into the RTP network through Stride Bank, Payfare said it can now support faster, more secure payments to bank accounts right away.

All payments made through the RTP network will settle within seconds, with immediate confirmation and availability of funds.

Payments can be sent and received after banking hours, on weekends and during bank holidays.

The partnership represents a response to the growing gig economy, which prioritizes doing jobs and moving on to the next one over getting long-term benefits.
