DoorDash has entered the home improvement category with a new partnership with Lowe’s.
The on-demand delivery aggregator now offers gardening tools, spring cleaning essentials, do-it-yourself supplies and other products from more than 1,700 of the home improvement retailer’s stores nationwide, DoorDash said in a Monday (April 1) press release.
“Our partnership enables consumers with quick access to must-have tools and last-minute materials to complete projects of all sizes,” Fuad Hannon, vice president of new verticals at DoorDash, said in the release. “With Lowe’s on the marketplace, we add to the great selection of everyday essentials that consumers rely on for on-demand delivery on DoorDash.”
With the addition of the home improvement retailer to its app, DoorDash now has more than 150,000 non-restaurant stores across its marketplaces and platform services, globally, and offers groceries, retail, flowers, food and more, according to the release.
Lowe’s products can be purchased directly on the DoorDash app, so customers can shop for them along with other items from local retailers, per the release. They are also included in DoorDash’s membership program, DashPass, so eligible orders can qualify for free delivery and a reduced service fee.
For Lowe’s, this expansion of same-day delivery options is part of the retailer’s continuing “omnichannel journey,” Neelima Sharma, senior vice president of digital commerce and technology at Lowe’s, said in the release.
“Our collaboration with DoorDash unlocks an opportunity for us to reach new DIY customers who are shopping directly on the DoorDash app, helping them get everything they need for spring,” Sharma said.
In another recent addition to DoorDash, the aggregator said March 18 that it expanded the range of beauty merchants active on its platform by partnering with Sally Beauty and MAC Cosmetics and expanding its existing partnership with Sephora.
“We’re really excited about what beauty offers our customers in terms of beginning to think about DoorDash not just for consumption categories like grocery or alcohol or restaurants, but with increasingly non-consumption categories,” Hannon told PYMNTS in an interview posted at the time.
In February, DoorDash announced a same-day delivery partnership with Pet Supplies Plus, saying it will offer delivery on demand from 720 of the independent pet retailer’s stores.
