Technology company Planet has combined with Proximis, Datatrans, protel Hotelsoftware and Hoist Group in order boost digital commerce and add cloud software and payment solutions for retail, hospitality and financial services.
According to a Wednesday (March 16) press release, Planet is working to “combine software, payments and technology.”
The new offering will let customers connect all their channels, both online and offline, and align previously fragmented software and payment systems, which used to prioritize functions over the end customer experience.
Additionally, by making an end-to-end platform, Planet said retailers will be able to offer a unified shopper journey on every channel, including things like click and collect, shop and ship and advanced return management. Hoteliers will also be able to access Planet’s built-in payments to help save time.
Planet also works with various financial services partners to offer more global payment processing solutions. The companies are being combined by majority owners Advent and Eurazeo, intending to “transform digital commerce” for customers.
Per the release, they’ll keep driving investment and innovation, using their global reach and experience to do so. The combined company will be led by Brent Warrington, who has worked with PayPal and Hyperwallet in the past.
“We have an incredible opportunity ahead of us to create a company that delivers innovative solutions that will be transformative for both our customers and their consumers, shoppers and guests through connected commerce,” Warrington said. “We will be a differentiated and disruptive force within our sector, which will drive our growth ambitions, and I look forward to updating you on our progress over the course of 2022.”
