The holiday shopping season is starting Oct. 6-8 at Target, as one of the largest retail chains in the United States launches a Deals Day event with thousands of select items discounted for that window of time only.
Target is also planning to hire as many as 100,000 employees for the holiday season in stores and supply chain facilities nationwide this year and is starting its Holiday Price Match Guarantee Oct. 6, according to a Thursday (Sept. 22) press release.
Target’s hourly wage range is $15-$24, which is among the highest in every market where the retailer has stores or facilities, the release stated. About 30% of seasonal hires stay on after the holiday season.
Target Executive Vice President and Chief Growth Officer Christina Hennington said in the release that Target is introducing earlier deals to make it easier “to help our guests shop when and how they want.”
To ensure a well-stocked selection of toys, Target has partnered with toy brand FAO Schwarz in an exclusive multiyear agreement.

The 10th annual Bullseye’s Top Toys list, presented by FAO Schwarz, includes the most anticipated toys and games from a wide variety of brands available at Target, according to the release.
Target also has Shop-in-Shops, including Disney, Levi’s, Ulta Beauty and Apple, free order pickup, drive-up orders in as soon as two hours, free shipping on orders of $35 or more or when using Target RedCard and same-day delivery with Shipt.
