Books-A-Million has introduced same- and next-day delivery services as part of its omnichannel transformation.
Teaming up with Walmart GoLocal, Walmart’s delivery-as-a-service platform, Books-A-Million aims to meet the preferences of consumers and serve them in new ways, the bookstore chain said in a Wednesday (Sept. 6) press release.
“We’re excited to introduce this new delivery offering with Walmart GoLocal, which will make it easier for customers to order their favorite books and have their favorite stories at their fingertips,” Olivia McDaniel, vice president of marketing at Books-A-Million, said in the release.
Starting in the coming weeks, same- and next-day delivery will be available across all 231 Books-A-Million locations, beginning with the Southeast and Midwest markets, according to the press release.
Customers can visit the Books-A-Million website and choose the “Same-Day Delivery” option during checkout, the release said. Orders placed before 3 p.m. will be delivered on the same day, while orders placed after 3 p.m. will arrive the next day. This service covers tens of thousands of products in stock at nearby stores, including books, toys, games and collectibles.
“Ahead of the holidays, there’s no better time to introduce this offering and make it easier than ever for our customers to shop with us,” Pete Zophy, senior vice president of eCommerce at Books-A-Million, said.
Books-A-Million’s partnership with Walmart GoLocal not only enhances the customer experience but also demonstrates the company’s adaptability in the ever-evolving retail landscape, according to the press release. By utilizing all of its stores nationwide for online delivery and fulfillment, Books-A-Million aims to offer a fast, convenient and frictionless delivery option for its customers.
“It’s more important now than ever for retailers to meet customers where they are and offer a seamless eCommerce experience,” Eliza Wendel, senior director and head of sales and business development at Walmart GoLocal, said.
Walmart GoLocal was launched in August 2021 as a white-label, last-mile delivery service to help other retailers address their customers’ delivery demands.
A year later, Walmart said the service had made over a million deliveries. It reported at the time that Walmart GoLocal has served retailers of many categories and is able to offer competitive pricing because of its delivery volume on routes.
