PayPal has appointed former SoFi executive Aaron J. Webster as executive vice president, chief enterprise services officer, effective Monday (March 18).
In his new role, Webster will be responsible for global financial crime and fraud prevention programs, regulatory and government relations, and risk and compliance management, PayPal said in a Wednesday (March 13) press release emailed to PYMNTS.
Webster brings experience from leading risk management and global operations for “some of the world’s most recognized companies,” Alex Chriss, president and CEO of PayPal, said in the release.
“Throughout his career, he’s established himself as a growth leader with a deep understanding of financial services products and how risk management can enhance customer relationships,” Chriss said. “I’m confident that Aaron will bring tremendous value and leadership to PayPal as we continue to grow and evolve.”
In his previous position at SoFi, Webster was most recently chief risk officer, global head of operations and Latin America, according to the release. In that role, he built integrated risk management in preparation for the launch of SoFi Bank, NA, scaled global operations and established a presence in Latin America.
Prior to SoFi, Webster held executive leadership roles at Citi, Toyota and GE Capital, the release said.
“It’s the privilege of a lifetime to join the PayPal team and contribute my expertise to supercharge the important work of protecting our customers and revolutionizing commerce around the world,” Webster said in the release.
This is the latest in a series of appointments announced by PayPal. These include a new chief corporate affairs and communications officer, a new chief marketing officer and a new global markets president.
In addition, in November 2023, PayPal divided its business into three new units and named three new executives.
Chriss joined PayPal as president, CEO and board member in September 2023, after his appointment was announced in August. He succeeded Dan Schulman, who announced in February 2023 that he planned to retire after joining PayPal in 2014 and leading it since it separated from eBay and became an independent public company.
