American Express has launched a digital cash flow management hub for small businesses.
The new Business Blueprint provides one place small businesses can go to get cash flow insights, access digital financial products and manage their Business Cards, American Express said in a Tuesday (Jan. 31) press release.
“Business Blueprint marks a critical next step in American Express’ vision of becoming a digital one-stop shop for small businesses’ financial needs, whether to manage their cash flow, make payments, get paid or access working capital,” Anna Marrs, group president of global commercial services and credit and fraud risk at American Express, said in the release.
PYMNTS research has found that 55% of financial institutions are currently working to find solutions that will offer their clients a single view of cash for real-time cash flow management and forecasting, while another 24% plan to work on such a solution.
Offering corporate clients a single view of cash is at the top of the agenda of financial institutions as they innovate or plan to innovate new digital solutions to reduce their enterprise clients’ key B2B payment frictions, according to “The Innovation Gap: Meeting the Challenge of Corporate Payments Modernization,” a PYMNTS and FIS collaboration.
Small businesses can also leverage the goodwill they have among consumers by meeting customers where they are on payment options.
Those that do not — despite strong consumer sentiment — may risk being left behind, according to “Tapping the Payments Opportunity in SMB Retail,” a PYMNTS and American Express collaboration.
The new American Express Business Blueprint builds on the Kabbage platform that the firm acquired in 2020 and provides small businesses with free insights to help them make financial decisions, according to the press release.
It also provides products that help small businesses take a loan, pay bills and vendors, send wires, check their account balances, make mobile check deposits, accept card payments and perform other daily tasks, the release said.
“Kabbage is now fully integrated into the suite of American Express business products, providing business owners a wide range of digital financial solutions to help them manage their finances efficiently and confidently,” Marrs said in the release.
