“Banker’s hours” is an archaic term harking back to when banks were only open from about 10 a.m. to around 2 p.m. Paper ledgers, carbon copies, pens and ink. Sounds exhausting.
That was a full working day for bankers of yore. It conveyed the unshakable fidelity of finance.
We like unshakeable firmness in banks, and in our credit cards too. We at PYMNTS may be free marketeers and love a good app fight as much as the next person. However, as we’ve said in this space before, lack of gyration in PYMNTS’ Provider Rankings of Credit Card Apps can be taken as a sign of calming financial markets and refreshed fiscal footing for the new decade.
We can all agree that’s a good thing, even as we cheer on our favored apps in the rankings race.
The Top 5
This first part is easy. Super easy, in fact, because not a single app in the Top 5 has budged since we checked in last month.
Still champ at No. 1 is Chase Mobile, with Capital One Mobile holding at No. 2, Bank of America Mobile Banking keeping its seat at No. 3 (on a Q4 2020 surge in mobile banking), the Wells Fargo Mobile app looking familiar at No. 4, and ditto Discover Mobile, which recently added Face ID technology for iPhone X users, standing firm at No. 5 for another month.
The Top 10
A couple of things to take note of in the lower half of the Top 10 of PYMNTS’ latest Provider Rankings of Credit Card Apps.
First, we’ve got the Credit One Bank Mobile app taking No. 6, bumping mighty American Express down one spot to No. 7. The MySynchrony credit card app is found in its favorite place — No. 8 — while hot on its heels is the Cards — Mobile Wallet gaining one chart position to claim No. 9 this month.
Returning to the PYMNTS Provider Rankings of Credit Card Apps this go around is PREMIER Credit Card, which enters the Top 10 at No. 10, and completed this latest ranking.
