Sometimes we’re amazed at the streaming apps that don’t make it into the top 10. Have a look at the full field of contenders to get an idea of what tip-top streaming apps are up against.
In this latest update to the PYMNTS Provider Ranking of Streaming Apps we see smaller shifts of one chart position revealing the competition for eyeballs and downloads among these brands.
While we spend most of our time on PYMNTS TV (also, why isn’t that ranked?), the wider world is watching films, TV shows and docs, flipping between apps, and maybe deciding which to cut.
On that ominous note, we present the new Provider Ranking of Streaming Apps.
The Top 5
New at No. 1 this month is YouTube climbing one spot and knocking mighty Netflix to No. 2.
The Disney+ app is sticking at No. 3 another month, and it’s the same story for Spotify at No. 4, now field testing its new “Smart Player” for in-car use.
Firm at No. 5 for another month is Amazon Prime Video, and closing out this Top 5.
The Top 10
PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Streaming Apps plays no favorites. We just report the facts.
Here’s a fact: the ad-supported Pluto TV app maintains its orbit at No. 6, much like Herculean Hulu does at No. 7 for another update.
Some upward mobility for the Amazon Music app, new at No. 8, and gaining one spot.
That gain pushes the fun-sounding Funimation app down one spot to No. 9.
The app may be called Twitch but it isn’t budging from the No. 10 chart position, which concludes this edition of the streaming app rankings.
And seriously, check out PYMNTS TV.
