The payments brand Skrill on Tuesday (June 1) announced a new collaboration with the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform Wix, with Skrill integrating with Wix to give millions of business owners the ability to accept payments.
Wix has a customer base of more than 200 million global users, allowing businesses of all kinds to create websites and manage their businesses online.
Skrill said the integration will allow those businesses “to accept payments in over 40 currencies via credit cards, debit cards, local payment methods and more than 80 banks globally. Among the alternative payment methods accepted via a single integration to Skrill’s payment gateway are the Skrill digital wallet and other Paysafe services, including online bank transfer solution Rapid Transfer and online cash solution Paysafecash.”
According to research from Skrill’s parent company Paysafe, roughly 84 percent of small to medium businesses have altered their operations since the COVID-19 outbreak to appeal to a broader market, with the adapting of digital strategies marking a core part of this move.
More than three-quarters of those businesses said they diversified their payment offerings. Of those, 66 percent saw an increase in sales.
“The last year has been a pivotal one for many businesses or sole traders who may not have considered growing their online presence before, and checkout has proved to be a vital consideration as part of this,” said Lorenzo Pellegrino, CEO of Skrill, NETELLER and income access at Paysafe. “By integrating Skrill and strengthening and diversifying their checkout, businesses looking to make the leap online or grow their eCommerce presence with Wix will have a competitive advantage.”
This is Paysafe’s second high-profile collaboration this year. In March, the company announced it would team up with the cryptocurrency platform Coinbase to expand in the U.S.
