Restaurant management startup SpotOn is integrating Order with Google to help its restaurant clients streamline the online ordering process. The integration will give customers the ability to order directly through Google Search and Maps using SpotOn Order.
“We know that restaurants operate on the slimmest of margins and that online ordering fees can often make or break their bottom line,” Doron Friedman, co-founder and chief product officer of SpotOn, said in a press release.
He added that the integration is a no-charge option for restaurants to “get more guests in the door and more food out the door” and every decision the company makes is about helping restaurants “compete and win.”
A recent survey conducted by Sense360 indicated that 63 percent of respondents would rather order directly from the restaurant, according to the press release. SpotOn’s Google integration gives customers the option of ordering on the restaurant’s website or using Google Search and Google Maps without the need for an additional app and login credentials.
SpotOn Order clients could save up to $90,000 annually by sidestepping third-party commissions, which can cost as much as 30 percent per order. The solution also is integrated with SplickiIt, ItsaCheckmate and SpotOn Delivery, powered by DoorDash, all of which offer a flat rate delivery option for restaurants.
Restaurants can use additional SpotOn solutions — enterprise reporting, customer loyalty, and the management of their Google Business Profiles — to help boost traffic, engagement, and more. The platform also offers 24/7/365 support from Restaurant Success Managers, fast point-of-sale, digital loyalty rewards, and more, according to the release.
SpotOn recently raised $125 million in a Series D funding round at a valuation estimated at about $1.875 billion to develop new products and grow its market placement.
The Silicon Valley startup was an event partner for the June 12 special, Guy Fieri’s Guy’s Restaurant Reboot, which provided over $300,000 in grants to restaurant owners. SpotOn also talked with top chefs and industry personalities about restaurant technology trends.
At Google’s annual I/O conference last month, the company said it was working to become more fully integrated with commerce and expanded its partnership with Shopify. The search giant also plans to integrate with WooCommerce, GoDaddy and Square.
