Global FinTech Fiserv on Wednesday (Sept. 29) announced it will open a new office in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, expanding the company’s presence in the Garden State. In the process, the firm will adding about 2,000 jobs, mostly in tech-related positions.
The new Fiserv location “will serve as a strategic center of excellence for technology and product innovation,” according to a company press release, and “will specialize in designing use cases around the future of banking, money movement and commerce.”
The office will be one of the company’s largest locations on the East Coast. Fiserv plans to partner with local universities, including Rutgers University, to create programs for their students and graduates, and to provide opportunities for them to work at the new office in some capacity.
“Our new location in Berkeley Heights will be a dynamic hub of collaboration and innovation, bringing our people together in an inspiring workplace environment to create opportunity for unmatched energy and career growth experiences as we move payments and financial services forward on behalf of our clients,” said Frank Bisignano, president and CEO of Fiserv, in the company announcement. “As part of our investment in this new Fiserv location, we look forward to being a force for good by engaging in and creating positive and meaningful impact in the Berkeley Heights community.”
The new building, at 100 Connell Drive, is slated to include 428,000 square feet of space in a single four-story building that will accommodate about 3,000 Fiserv employees. It will include social work zones, wellness amenities and culinary programming.
Fiserv will also seek Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for the building, “which will be a physical representation of the company’s distinctive brand experience,” according to the company announcement.

Last month, Fiserv expanded its Carat ecosystem to allow businesses to send money directly to PayPal and Venmo accounts.
Fiserv’s Head of Carat and Digital Commerce Nandan Sheth said the goal of adding PayPal and Venmo as payment destinations is to meet the demands of today’s consumers.
