Yatco Energy, a chain of 20 convenience stores in the New England area, has debuted its Yatco Rewards program on the software-as-a-service (SaaS) Paytronix platform, according to a Monday (Dec. 6) press release.

Yatco Rewards provides customers with a points-based loyalty program, a branded mobile app, and for three of the larger convenience stores, ordering and delivery services, according to the announcement.

“In today’s highly competitive market creating a differentiative program helps in staying relevant in the eyes of the consumer,” said Hussein Yatim, vice president of Yatco Energy, Inc. “Paytronix also gives us a means to communicate with our customers and solicit their feedback so that they feel valued and heard.”

Loyalty programs have become commonplace for retail and restaurants alike — and for many, the effort literally pays off. A recent PYMNTS survey of 2,501 U.K. consumers determined that 44 % of U.K. grocery shoppers said they spend more grocery stores with loyalty programs.

According to leading experts, a loyalty outlet that has not yet been fully leveraged is in the crypto space.

Rodrigo McCarthy, executive board member at novae, told PYMNTS recently that crypto gives customers earning rewards another avenue for redeeming points.

Retailers who offer crypto rewards provide a simplified means for customers to cash in loyalty points at the point of sale. Users of the company’s Miles Blue app, for instance, can redeem crypto via the app for a purchase, McCarthy said.

Last month, Chase announced a collaborative effort with fast delivery startup Gopuff, which provides Gopuff customers with an opportunity to earn rewards points with each purchase, according to PYMNTS.

The program is available to Gopuff customers who use a Chase credit card as their payment method, allowing Chase cardholders to receive an automatic $10 statement credit every month a purchase is made with Gopuff.
