How’s this for a brilliantly simple pitch: “Buy it now. Pay for it later.”
Is it any wonder that the world is in love with installment payments? It’s got everything. Instant gratification. Affordability. Really cool app experiences. Did we mention instant gratification?
Why do you think we do at PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Buy Now, Pay Later Apps? Sure, they gave us a Swiss chalet with a private chef, but honestly, we never get over there. That means we do it for the love of knowledge, and people need to get it from someone. Might as well be us.
Ready yourself for a walk through the world of installment credit. Maybe do some stretches.
The Top Five
Let’s see now, where were we? Last time around, Klarna was at No. 1, and that hasn’t changed.
Also unchanged is the two-way tie at No. 2 between Affirm and Afterpay.
Content to remain at No. 3 for another cycle, it’s the Zip, formerly QuadPay, app.
Hurray for FuturePay, rising one spot to No. 4 in the latest ranking.
We exit the Top Five on a tied horse race between two worthy BNPL apps. Head-to-head and toe-to-toe at No. 5, it’s Laybuy and Sezzle, each dropping a spot, but sticking to the Top Five.
That’s half the battle right there.
The Top 10
Moving down, we find that PayPal-owned BNPL app Paidy has dropped a spot out of the Top Five to take the No. 6 position. Our sense is that this one could change back at any time.
Down a spot also from last month, we’ve got the Zip Pay app at No. 7.
At No. 8, it’s the Humm app, again, keeping a seat it seems happy with — for now.
Tumbling two chart positions in this latest ranking is the Lazy Pay app, grabbing No. 9.
Having entered the Provider Ranking of Buy Now, Pay Later Apps only in the past two or three months, the Brighte app is hanging in, falling one chart position to No. 10 this cycle.
And that’s how easy a ranking can be if you’re an experienced professional. We don’t recommend trying this at home. We’ve heard rumors of laptops melting into puddles.
