The Seattle Mariners and hospitality partner Sodexo Live! said this week that Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One are coming to T-Mobile Park, combining the two frictionless retail technologies at a Major League Baseball ballpark for the first time, according to an announcement.
The Walk-Off Market, which is set to open this summer near section 126 on the ballpark’s main level, is “designed to eliminate lines and allow fans to enjoy more Mariners baseball,” the announcement says. Fans can either insert their credit cards as they enter or hover their palms over an Amazon One device to enter, shop and leave the market with their goods.
Fans who have never used the Amazon One palm recognition service can enroll in less than one minute at one of three kiosks outside the Walk-Off Market.
“The Walk-Off Market is built for speed,” said Catie Griggs, Seattle Mariners president of business operations. “From the menu offerings to the store’s layout to Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, everything is designed to offer fans what they want and get them back to the game as quickly as possible.”
The Walk-Off Market will sell beer, Northwest wines, ready-to-drink cocktails, a variety of Coca-Cola products, grab-and-go snacks, Mariners Dogs, Ballpark Nachos and soft pretzels and Mariners-branded merchandise. Fans will have to show their IDs to an attendant before buying alcohol.

Of course, the Mariners aren’t the only MLB club adding new payment tech to their ballparks this season. Earlier this month, Instacart announced that it is launching a new POS system called Caper Counter at Fenway Park in Boston. Consumers place their items on the device, which scans them with computer vision, after which consumers select their payment option.
Also, cloud technology company Oracle is bringing mobile ordering to the San Francisco Giants’ Oracle Park, the St. Louis Cardinals have introduced self-serve concessions stands wherein consumers can scan their own items, as well as mobile deliver-to-seat ordering, and the Houston Astros have brought Amazon’s Just Walk Out cashierless checkout technology to two concessions stores in Minute Maid Park.
