Instacart will be partnering with more than 10 new retailers in order to make more accessible same-day deliveries, including retailers like Metro, Giant Tiger, specialty grocer Galleria Supermarket and others, a company press release says.
Chris Rogers, vice president of retail with the delivery company, said Instacart was “proud to deepen [its] presence” among various parts of the world.
“We know that the demand for same-day delivery of groceries and essential goods is ubiquitous across Canada, and we’re committed to creating more ways for Canadians to connect with retailers of all sizes. We’ll continue to increase our footprint across Canada and create the best online grocery shopping experience possible for both our retail partners and customers.”
The release notes that Ontario customers will be able to shop from those aforementioned companies as well as others like pet company Menagerie Pet Shop, sports nutrition retailers Popeye’s Supplements and Healthy Planet, and others like Dolce & Gourmondo, Nature’s Emporium, Super Natural Market and others.
Simon Rodrigue, senior vice president and chief digital officer with Giant Tiger, said the partnership would add more support for customers and add “an excellent advantage.”
And Barry Lanteigne, president with Distribution Canada, said this would also add some support for smaller businesses.
“As independent grocers continue to evolve their omnichannel strategies, we look forward to continuing our work with Instacart to bring independent grocers across Canada online,” he said.
PYMNTS wrote that Instacart has teamed with Wegmans Food Markets in order to accept Electronics Benefits Transfer and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, at 106 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Virginia and North Carolina.

Erica Tickle, vice president of Wegmans eCommerce, said this would increase “accessibility to our wide selection of groceries, including fresh, wholesome, and packaged foods, throughout our communities.”
“This is incredibly important for our customers and our company, as we strive to help people live healthier, better lives through food,” she said. “Offering EBT SNAP payments through the Instacart website and mobile app is a great first step, and we look forward to expanding this capability to Wegmans.com and our mobile app later this year.”
