Snapchat is adding a new way for users to share things they like on eBay, a company blog said.

Snapchatters will now be able to share eBay listings with friends, using the Snapchat Camera to add them right into Snaps.

There are still over 142 million buyers using eBay around the world. Snapchatters will now be able to share the eBay things they’ve looked at or are selling, while in conversation with friends.

Meanwhile, Evan Spiegel, Snap CEO and co-founder, has come out against the metaverse, PYMNTS wrote.

His reasoning is that people “love the real world” and that it makes more sense for his company to augment that realm, instead of going fully virtual.

This goes as far as Spiegel preferring the word “metaverse” not even being said in the company offices in Santa Monica, California. In his opinion, people would rather spend time in reality rather than dive into a fully digital realm and live life in a different plane.

“The reason why we don’t use that word is because it’s pretty ambiguous and hypothetical,” Speigel told The Guardian. “Just ask a room of people how to define it, and everyone’s definition is totally different.”

Snap has made some changes, though, including smart glasses and more hardware in its portfolio, along with the Pixy drone, letting users capture selfies without using their hands.

The PYMNTS report mentions Spiegel’s disagreements with Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg on the merits of the metaverse, finding it “ambiguous and hypothetical.” But the two do seem to agree on the benefits of augmented reality glasses, which Zuckerberg has said are a “holy grail” device.

Meta’s glasses won’t be out until 2024, but the report says Snap’s are being tested by developers.

“There’s now like 250 million people engaging with AR every day on the smartphone alone,” Spiegel said. “And that’s on this tiny little screen that you’re looking through and you’re using your thumbs on. So we believe that trying to break some of those constraints, and go into a truly immersive and interactive AR experience, will be really important in the future.”
