PostePay and Mastercard are partnering to usher in a request-to-pay (RTP) solution in Italy to offer businesses greater control and flexibility over bill payments and cash flow.
RTP gives billers the ability to ask for payment online in real-time while the payer at the same time can choose to accept or deny the request, and then proceed to the payment method, according to a press release on Tuesday (Oct. 11).
Marco Siracusano, CEO PostePay Spa, said the partnership with Mastercard will bring about new opportunities and “fuels the changing process in consumer habits” by streamlining payments.
RTP’s “innovative solution” and its ultimate success will be driven by the expertise of both companies, he added.

Using the PostePay App, a single point of access can be tapped for payment management, including online payments, recurring invoices, bills, taxes, peer-to-peer money exchanges, and more, according to the release. A report is also offered to help users consolidate expenses and manage their spending habits.
“As we launch ‘Request to Pay’ in Italy, we are certain that it will not only benefit consumers through giving them more control, flexibility and security, but will also provide a more efficient, cost-effective way for billers to offer first rate customer service, bringing significant improvements in business digitalization,” said Mark Barnett, President Mastercard Europe.

With the goal of offering users a higher level of flexibility and control, RTP is another tool offered by the Mastercard and PostePay portfolio of solutions and applications. Both companies are striving to “promote an inclusive digital economy” for the benefit of safe, easy, accessible transactions for all.
PostePay is a reloadable prepaid card service that is branded with Visa or Mastercard and operated by Poste Italiane in Italy.
