Digital River announced yesterday (May 26) that Hayden Reed has been appointed senior vice president and general manager of Digital River World Payments.
Digital River was taken private earlier this year by an investor group led by Siris Capital Group.
The company’s payment solutions unit operates with a single payments connection. The platform includes checkout page optimization, real-time fraud detection and back office reconciliation functions.
Reed joins the company from MasterCard Worldwide, where he spent 10 years and most recently led the emerging payments product for credential management. Prior to MasterCard Worldwide, Reed held positions at, among others, First Data Corporation, Electronic Commerce Payments, Inc. and CheckFree Corporation.
Reed’s management responsibilities, Digital River said, will extend across sales and marketing, operations and mergers and acquisitions.
“We are pleased to welcome Hayden aboard,” Digital River CEO David Dobson stated in the release. “He brings a wealth of international payments experience to his new position. We are looking forward to his contributions in extending our leadership as a global payments provider and helping our merchants accelerate their growth across a rapidly expanding eCommerce market.”
In the company statement, Reed said, “I am excited to join a company that is working at the center of worldwide eCommerce – a fast-paced and growing industry that holds tremendous opportunity. I look forward to continuing to advance our portfolio of international products and services to create even more choice, competitive advantage and value for our clients.”
Last year, Digital River said, the company’s online transaction volumes totaled more than $35 billion across 240 countries and territories.
The announcement of Reed’s employment is not the only recent news for Digital River. Earlier this month, the company also announced that it has enhanced its services globally in two parts: by adding a deeper level of strategic consulting for custom eCommerce implementations and allowing for integrations with third-party solutions. As part of that expansion, Digital River appointed Joydeep Haldar as its SVP of global professional services.
