Swedish B2B payments FinTech Payer has announced it will now facilitate American Express Payments in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Companies using Payer as a digital payment platform will now be able to accept American Express Cards as a payment method for all purchases.
“Payer is excited to be partnering with American Express to provide our European B2B customers even greater payment choice when paying for goods and services on our B2B checkout, across a wide range of industries including manufacturing, automotive, consulting, and financial services,” Payer Director of Partnerships Daniel Brännström said in a Friday (Oct. 28) press release.
“This aligns with our objective of being the preferred B2B Payments Service Provider across the Nordics and in Europe,” he added.
Keith McDonald, vice president, payment facilitation and small merchant partnerships at American Express, said partnering with payment providers such as Payer “makes it easier for American Express to be accepted at more locations,” something that is especially important in the growing realm of B2B payments.
“It also means that Cardmembers can use their Cards in even more places and have even greater choice of where they can use their Card,” he said.
As elsewhere in Europe, American Express isn’t accepted as widely in the Nordics as some alternative cards are. What’s more, the region has a strong tradition of using local digital wallets, which also compete with card payments and Big Tech mobile wallets.
