Chevron Debuts Connected Car Rewards and Payments App

Chevron U.S.A. has launched apps for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

With the new apps, users can pay for fuel from the dashboard infotainment system in their car when at Chevron or Texaco stations, the company said in a Monday (Dec. 5) press release that was emailed to PYMNTS.

They can also participate in Chevron’s rewards program and find information about nearby Chevron and Texaco stations.

“Chevron is passionate about ensuring a world-class customer experience, and bringing consumers all the features and benefits of our mobile apps to their in-car experience is our latest advancement,” Chevron Director of Global Customer Experience Tracey Gardiner said in the release.

At participating stations, users of the new apps can use these apps to search for Chevron and Texaco stations, see station amenities and add a car wash to their transaction.

“From the comfort of their vehicles, consumers can find stations with the amenities they want — convenience stores or car washes — as well as the energy they need, be it our traditional products with Techron or lower carbon solutions like renewable diesel blend, compressed natural gas and EV [electric vehicle] charging,” Gardiner said.

The new connected car apps join Chevron’s existing digital consumer experience offerings that include the Chevron and Texaco mobile apps, Apple Watch and Android Wear OS apps, and the Chevron Texaco Rewards website, according to the press release.

PYMNTS research has found that as the number of connected vehicles on the road continues to grow, developers are producing tools that serve a variety of use cases for consumers, commercial drivers and fleet managers alike.

“Connected cars will drive the transformation of global wireless data networks to more sophisticated personalized and customized experiences,” Tatia Adams Fox, vice president and general manager of the travel and entertainment national client group at American Express, told PYMNTS when interviewed for “Reshaping Global Business With Connected Vehicles,” a PYMNTS and American Express collaboration.
