The portion of eCommerce sales that came through mobile devices jumped to 17 percent, up from 15.89 percent in Q1 2015, according to the Q2 mobile data of U.K.-based marketing network Affiliate Window.
The mobile data, which is drawn from over 3.5 million network transactions spanning sectors like retail, travel and telecommunications, was reported as part of Affiliate Window’s most recent quarterly mobile update for Q2 2015. The company’s work with some of the top retail brands in the U.K., as well as over 1,000 SMEs, equipped it to provide a comprehensive picture of the mobile landscape, Affiliate Window said.
According to the report, 34,886 sales each day came through a smartphone and tablet, with 16,089 of those sales being made through a smartphone — resulting in 670 sales generated via a smartphone each hour.
The amount of traffic originating from mobile devices was reported at 48 percent, up from 46.1 percent in Q1 2015, resulting in the mobile traffic being converted at 3.6 percent, up from 3.57 percent last quarter.
Despite the reported growth in sales on mobile devices, the mobile average order value experienced a slight drop, from £65 (roughly $100) in Q1 to £64.65 (roughly $99) in Q2.
