Comdata has launched a payment solution that allows fleet owners to enjoy both the benefits of a fuel card and the rewards of their existing credit card.
The new Comdata Connect Card can also be linked to the cardholder’s bank accounts, making it easier to add funds to the card instantly, the company said in a Tuesday (Nov. 28) press release.
“Fleets no longer have to choose between the benefits of Comdata’s best-in-market fuel card and the rewards programs they enjoy from bank accounts or credit cards,” Eric Dowdell, president of Comdata, said in the release.
The Comdata Connect Card provides fleets with savings at major truck stops as well as fleet security, fraud alerts and detailed report, according to the release.
It allows businesses to get started using the card right away, with no credit check, and allows them to add funds instantly, avoiding stress over short due dates and late fees the release said.
“The Comdata Connect Card is the best of both worlds, delivering industry-leading controls and discounts at the pump, while being funded by a credit card or bank account of our customers’ choice,” Dowdell said in the release.
The new card joins the existing commercial payment solutions for the trucking industry offered by Comdata, a FLEETCOR company, according to the press release. These solutions allow fleets to gain actionable insights from spending data, build enhanced controls to protect the interest of their clients, and streamline the day-to-day operations for fleet owners, managers and drivers.

The report found that as they work to accomplish this, 55% of transportation companies view accounts payable (AP) platform innovation as an important goal. Among those who have already augmented their AP capability, 61% report high satisfaction with their AP automation platforms.
