Flock Freight Offers to Assist White House Supply Chain Efforts

FreightTech company Flock Freight has released an open letter addressed to Biden administration officials that offers the company’s help in optimizing the nation’s supply chains.

The letter aligns with the administration’s Monday (Nov. 27) announcement that it is taking action to strengthen supply chains, Flock Freight said in a Wednesday (Nov. 29) press release.

In the letter and press release, Flock Freight CEO and founder Oren Zaslansky offers the company’s assistance to the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the administration’s newly established Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force.

The company’s FreightTech platform provides a shared truckload alternative to traditional shipping modes, according to the press release. The FlockDirect platform uses proprietary algorithms to fill trucks’ empty spaces, optimizing truck capacity through shared shipments.

This method solves the problem of one out of every two heavy trucks currently running half empty, Zaslansky said in the release.

“Equating to roughly 25% of wasted space, that’s a market failure that’s terrible for businesses, carriers and the planet,” Zaslansky said. “This inefficiency results in higher prices for U.S. consumers, excessive wear and tear on our infrastructure and unnecessary tailpipe carbon emissions.”

Optimizing truck capacity saves businesses from paying to ship empty space, allows drivers to earn 20% more per shipment and reduces diesel carbon emissions by up to 40%, per the release.

“As our network grows and we achieve further breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, machine learning and predictive pricing models, we hope to partner with the Task Force wherever possible,” Zaslansky said in the release.

When announcing the administration’s new efforts to strengthen supply chains, the White House said: “Robust supply chains are fundamental to a strong economy. When supply chains smooth, prices fall for goods, food and equipment, putting more money in the pockets of American families, workers, farmers and entrepreneurs.”
