Amazon Prime Now restaurant delivery has entered another city close to home.
Just last month, Amazon Prime Now launched the service in Seattle — and now it has landed in Portland. This means that customers in Portland can order free delivery from local restaurants and food carts, including Pok Pok, Sizzle Pie, Waffle Window, Seres Restaurant, Luc Lac, East India Co Grill & Bar, and Kim Jong Grillin’, among others.
This service can be accessed through the Prime Now mobile app, which also allows the customer to view participating restaurants, browse menus, place order, track delivery status and even watch the drivers in real time as they deliver from the restaurant. Amazon’s food delivery service also guarantees that drivers pick up food and deliver within an hour or less; Amazon said the average time is 39 minutes.
“Portland has emerged as one of America’s best food cities,” said Gus Lopez, general manager of Amazon Restaurants. “With restaurant delivery on Prime Now, we’re excited to provide Portland residents with a fast and convenient way to try many of the restaurants that their friends and neighbors talk about without having to drive all over the city.”
Restaurant delivery on Prime Now is available in select Portland zip codes and will be expanding soon, Amazon said. Prime members can enter their zip code to see if Prime Now is available in their area. In zip codes where restaurant delivery is available, customers will automatically see restaurants on their home page.
Prime Now also comes with a transparency guarantee, as Amazon claims that there are no menu markups or hidden service fees to use the ordering service. Amazon customers can pay using the same payment information already stored in their Amazon account.
