Corporate payments firm Bottomline wants to help businesses get into the groove with mobile payments, and, in the U.K., has enlisted one of the nation’s top banks in this effort.
An announcement Monday (May 9) said Bottomline is collaborating with Barclays to launch a mobile payment solution for business users. The solution can enable the enterprise to send mobile payments through either their Barclays-powered Pingit mobile payment tool, or through Barclays-supported Paym.
Senders need only a phone number – not bank account details – to initiate a mobile payment. The solution will operate over Bottomline’s Mobile Payments for Corporate module, which itself is part of the company’s C-Series platform – a suite of tools for corporates to support omnichannel money management.
Corporate users will now be able to connect their existing payment systems into the Barclays Pingit “send a payment” service, the company explained.
“With the ability to make a single submission of bulk payments in near real-time without needing to capture customer bank details, we expect Bottomline’s Mobile Payments for Corporates module will appeal to a very wide-range of businesses,” said Bottomline Technologies Product Marketing Manager Richard Ransom. “This fully automated solution can be especially attractive to businesses such as those in the utility and insurance sectors that still rely on high volumes of costly check generation.”
The executive added that the speed and ease of use of these solutions can also lead to significant boosts in customer engagement and satisfaction.
“For example,” he said, “in the case of Pingit, all recipients will be notified of their payment via an SMS or app alert.”
