Uber and Lyft are quickly taking over corporate ground transportation, leaving taxis in the dust. But what about rental cars?
Last year, Certify found that, among its corporate traveler customers, Uber surpassed the use of rental cars in Boston, with evidence that it’s slated to do the same elsewhere in the U.S.
That’s not discouraging U.K. corporate travel payments firm AirPlus from booking a deal with rental car giants. The company announced on Friday (July 22) that it signed a deal with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car, all brands of Enterprise Holdings.
Reports said their collaboration enables AirPlus‘ corporate clients to access Enterprise’s network of rental cars across 41 countries, with plans to expand geographically, too.
“Following the initial rollout in Germany and the U.K., demand for the service has been growing,” stated Enterprise Director of Business Rental for Europe Rob Ingram. “We listened closely to the corporate customers who used the service, and they wanted to use AirPlus in more countries globally.”
Corporate travelers can pay for Enterprise car rentals via the AirPlus service, reports explained, while AirPlus also enables streamlined expense recording and management. According to the companies, their partnership reveals the vitality of rental cars in the corporate travel space.
“Demand for AirPlus beyond the traditional main markets for business travel underlines businesses’ reliance on vehicle rental for onward travel at their destination,” Ingram continued. “The fact that car hire can now be easily booked almost anywhere, alongside booking a flight or a hotel room, means companies can make business travel more efficient.”
