New York-based startup CardFlight announced the launch of its service in private beta on May 8, saying the new tool will provide mobile developers and payment processors with another avenue for connection.
Like PayPayl, Square and Intuit, the service includes a point-of-sale system and card reader, but the new offering also allows users to develop custom, branded solutions for taking payments through websites or mobile apps, options that previously have not be available to the market.
“As mobile payments take off, we noticed a gap in the industry,” Derek Webster, CEO of CardFlight, said in a press release. “There was no open API for card-present mobile payments. We decided to create a transparent, easy-to-integrate SDK where developers could focus on creating great apps for their clients and we could take care of the payments.”
CardFlight says it works with most major processors such as First Data, TSYS, Vantiv and others, but allows those without an exiting merchant account to sign up through Stripe.
