Qualcomm Retail Solutions, has released the Gimbal proximity beacon, a new micro-location technology viewed as a lower-cost alternative to Apple’s iBeacon technology, the company announced in a December 9 press release.
The Gimbal provides retailers with ways to conduct in-store mobile marketing campaigns, with accuracy levels down to one foot both inside and outside of the store.
“With the availability of Gimbal proximity beacons, we are empowering brands to take mobile engagement with their customers to a whole new level through micro-location, “ Rocco Fabiano, Qualcomm Retail Solutions’ president, said in a statement.
