Private equity and hedge fund firm Fortress Investment Group reportedly has joined with two other investors to buy a stake in hedge fund operator Pantera Bitcoin Partners, which buys and sells virtual currencies.

Pantera Capital, the parent of Pantera Bitcoin, was founded a decade ago by Dan Morehead of Tiger Management. Since 2011, Morehead reportedly has grown increasingly fascinated with Bitcoin, he told the New York Times on March 18.
