Passport Taps Ex-Sage CEO To Lead Payments

Passport, the mobility management platform, announced Thursday (April 18) that it has named Greg Hammermaster as head of payments.

In a press release, Passport, which has more than $1 billion in payments processed to date and is a leader in payment in the transportation industry, said Hammermaster brings close to 30 years of experience working with large banks, card issuers and merchants to the table. Hammermaster has experience dealing with First Data, Sage, SunTrust, Vis, and US Bank, Passport said in the press release.

“Throughout my career, I’ve had experience in the entire ecosystem of payments,” Hammermaster said in the press release. “I am looking forward to expanding Passport’s payments offerings and providing the best possible service for cities, universities and private operators around the world.” Passport’s mobility platform enables customers to digitally coordinate all modes of transportation.

Hammermaster will work closely with the product, engineering, marketing and sales team at Passport to come up with more robust and competitive merchant processing services for the company’s more than 600 clients around the globe. The aim is to give clients a frictionless transaction journey with top-notch customer service and full transparency into the payment components.

“Our ultimate goal at Passport has always been to help cities create one-to-one connections with their citizens to enable data-driven decisions that support their communities’ needs. Our payment platform enables cities to coordinate complex rates and process transportation transactions,” Passport CEO Bob Youakim said in the press release. “With Greg’s guidance, we are building our payments infrastructure to continually improve the payment experience for our clients and the citizens they serve.”

Passport, which raised $43 million in Series C round of funding led by Bain Capital Ventures in December of 2017, has been focusing on making key hires. Earlier in 2019, it announced it added Brian Mooney, a veteran payments executive, to the board of directors.
