Citi customers now may use ThankYou Rewards points to pay bills online, thanks to a new policy Citi announced May 8.
Citi customers earn ThankYou points across their Citi banking and credit card relationships. Under the new policy effective this week, they may use those points to pay virtually any bill online including phone, cable and utility .
“We want our members to have the choice of using their points when and how they want,” Mary Hines Droesch, head of ThankYou Rewards at Citi, said in the service announcement. “Whether you want to pay this month’s cell phone or utility bill due next week, ThankYou Rewards lets you decide how you use your points.”
To use ThankYou points to pay bills, customers log on to the Citi account, go to Pay Bills and select Make a One-Time Payment and a payee, select the Thank You Rewards account as the source, enter the amount and schedule the payment.
