Uber is testing a monthly subscription pass that would allow access to rides, scooters, bikes and food, according to a report.
The pass, which costs $24.99 per month, offers a fixed discount on rides, free Uber Eats delivery and free rides on JUMP bikes and scooters. Uber is testing various discounts in different cities, including San Francisco and Chicago. Other iterations of the pass include free Uber Eats delivery after a certain price threshold is met.
“From meals to wheels and everything in between, we’re always looking for ways to make Uber the go-to option for your everyday needs,” an Uber spokesperson said.
Last year, Uber introduced Ride Pass, which offered discounts on rides for a monthly fee. Lyft has a similar program called All-Access.
This is the first time Uber has put all of its offerings together and discounted them. The move makes sense financially, as it guarantees that people will spend more money on its platform.
Uber also recently introduced a higher-tier feature called Uber Comfort that allows drivers to set preferences for conversation and climate control. It also offers more leg room and higher-rated drivers. The feature will cost 20 to 40 percent more than a regular UberX price. Uber Comfort launched on July 9 in 43 cities and some smaller states in the U.S., as well as in Ottawa, Canada.
The preferences were initially launched in May for Uber’s higher “Black” tier, as well as an option for help with luggage, but they are now more affordable. It also means Uber can charge more for vehicles that are better than its UberX tier, but not as elite as its Uber Black vehicles. This also means slightly more money for drivers if they qualify.
