Banking startup N26 has announced that its mobile banking app is now available to customers across the United States, following the completion of a beta program that lasted two months, according to a release.
The app is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Once it is downloaded, people can apply for an account and a Visa debit card. N26 plans to publicize the launch with an ad campaign on buses, taxis and trains throughout San Francisco, Chicago and New York.
“We are excited to now open up N26 to the millions of U.S. consumers who are frustrated with their current banking experience. We give users a banking app and Visa debit card that matches their lifestyles,” says Nicolas Kopp, US CEO, N26 Inc. “We created a mobile, fast and easy way to bank.”
N26 has also set up some strategic partnerships. When customers pay with an N26 card, they will get 10 percent off certain monthly subscriptions like fitness app Aaptiv, reading app Blinkist, Luminary and Tidal. N26 also offers a feature that would allow customers to get paychecks two days earlier when they set up an account.
“There are many other features in the N26 app that give customers the power to live and bank their way. Account activity is displayed in the app in real time, and customers can set daily spending limits and lock and unlock their N26 debit cards, all with a simple swipe in the app,” the company said in the release. “The U.S. product also provides two free withdrawals per month at ATMs nationwide.”
The N26 product was launched in 2015 and has reached upwards of 3.5 million customers throughout 24 markets, and has been very popular in Europe as well. It accrues about 10,000 new users daily in the country, mostly through word of mouth, and it has a 4.8 rating in Apple’s App Store.
