Hotel chain Marriott has expanded its mobile check-in and checkout service from its flagship Marriott Hotels to 11 other brands owned by the chain, according to Hospitality Technology.
The expansion extends the service from less than 500 hotels to more than 4,000 hotels worldwide by the end of 2014.
The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels, Autograph Collection, AC Hotels, Courtyard, SpringHill Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites and Marriott Executive Apartments will now let guests receive a push notification on an iOS or Android app after 4 p.m. on the day before arrival, alerting them they can check-in, and another automatic notification when their room is ready. Guests can then simply pick up their key card when they arrive.
Guests can also check out using the app and bypass the front desk by providing an email address where the bill should be sent.
Marriott is also testing mobile service requests in fifteen North American markets, letting guests ask for typical services such as extra towels and pillows through a mobile app.
