MENA’s PAYFORT Is Now Amazon Payment Services And Offers Installment Credit

Sezzle, Plaid Team On Consumer Payments

Payment service provider PayFort, which is based in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, has changed its name to Amazon Payment Services, a letter from Managing Director Omar Soudodi stated, and it will now offer installment payments.

By offering installment payment options, the company hopes to help people in financial binds make payments more easily, according to the letter.

The company was already Amazon-owned, and Soudodi said in the letter that the new name signals the company will still be a “highly secure online payment service that is easy-to-use and seamlessly integrable,” but will now have the benefit of Amazon’s global reach and other high-tech benefits.

“We’ve built Amazon Payment Services using Amazon technologies that help you monitor payment performance and offer protection against fraud,” Soudodi said in the letter. “We also revamped API documentation to make it more intuitive and listened to feedback from the community of developers we have worked with. We developed a new mechanism to capture your feedback and help us solve for your goals and innovate on your behalf.”

A FAQ section included in the letter said Amazon Payment Services will still act as a payment service provider letting other companies accept a range of payment types, including Visa and Mastercard alongside other local methods like Knet, Meeza and Naps.

In addition, the FAQ noted that Amazon Payment Services will not be the same as Amazon Pay.

Amazon Payment Services will let third-party companies choose what payment methods customers will use on their sites, allow for installment payments, help repeat buyers bypass redundant steps for smoother purchase processes and access security features to reduce fraud and store card details, according to the letter.

In June, PayFort debuted its #StartUpStayUp initiative for Middle Eastern small businesses. That initiative was intended to help the businesses boost traffic and get more revenue, with a digital marketing campaign in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, including influencer campaigns, video content production and marketing campaigns via email and internal promotions.
