Digital Banking App Provider Rankings Show Sector Both Relaxed And Roaring

February is about to begin. Depending where you live it’s either icy streets or slushy daiquiris. Either way, we’re all pretty much hunkered down for winter.

We find PYMNTS latest Provider Ranking of Digital Banking Apps in what at first appears as some form of winter hibernation, but don’t be fooled by the endurance of these chart positions. Just beneath their slick interfaces, digital banks are punching it out for primacy.

The Top 5

Dislodging top-seated players is never an easy thing, and digital banks are no exception.

At No. 1 we find Chime, followed as it was in the previous Ranking by Latam’s Nubank app at No. 2, cutest logo-haver Dave at No. 3, neobank Revolut stays firms at No. 4, while mobile-only U.K.-based Monzo retains its spot at No. 5, and closing out this month’s Top 5.

The Top 10

This next bunch of changes you simply will not believe. We were shocked.

Actually, that was a feeble attempt at grabbing attention as the bottom half of the Top 10 in PYMNTS’ new Provider Ranking of Digital Banking Apps is more of the same solidity.

Unchanged at No. 6 is the Current mobile banking app and Visa debit card, with sturdy Starling Bank holding at No. 7, as is the N26 mobile banking app at No. 8.

Still steady at No. 9 is the Empower app, beloved for its budgeting brainpower.

We’ve saved the solitary change for last, and it’s a familiar face this Ranking — the Mashreq Neo digital banking app — reappears after a brief absence at No. 10, completing this Ranking.
