The audio entertainment juggernaut SiriusXM announced Thursday (Jan. 13) it had acquired the music-for-businesses service Cloud Cover Music.
“Cloud Cover Music’s easy-to-use solutions and robust tech platform allow businesses to deliver music, with customized audio messaging if desired, to create the desired atmosphere for their prospects, customers and clients,” Sirius said in a news release.
Based in El Segundo, California, Cloud Cover’s platform offers “organizations of any size in any industry a robust selection of ad-free music,” that can be tailored to meet each business’ needs.
In addition, Cloud Cover promises to cover customer’s licensing fees with organizations such as ASCAP and BMI, while providing music that is free of “explicit lyrics and stations free of suggestive language.” Music is added regularly by the company’s curation team.
Sirius’ commercial music offerings already include SiriusXM Music for Business and Pandora for Business. Sirius purchased Pandora for $3.5 billion in 2019 in an all-stock transaction, gaining the streaming service’s tens of millions of subscribers. The price tag for Friday’s deal was not disclosed.

“SiriusXM and Pandora have always offered a unique blend of great content and great technology. The addition of Cloud Cover Music to our commercial music portfolio is expected to help propel us forward and contribute to the growth of our business,”
