Rumors are swirling that Amazon is looking to up the level of its cybersecurity game with an acquisition. Axios is reporting that Amazon is in late-stage acquisition talks with Massachusetts-based Sqrrl — a cybersecurity startup with an impressive pedigree.
Both of Sqrrl’s founders are NSA alumni — the service the firm offers analyzes big data streams to hunt down cyberthreats and expose them more rapidly. The firm has brought in around $30 million in venture funding with investments from Accomplice, Matrix Partners, Rally Ventures and Spring Lake Equity Partners.
The rumored buy price will be in the neighborhood of $40 million, according to reports.
Neither the Cambridge, MA-based startup nor Amazon have responded to media requests for comment.
