Apple Users Can Now Use Siri To Order From Walmart

Walmart announced Monday (Nov. 11) that it’s introducing Walmart Voice Order to Siri, and that Apple users will now be able to add items to their Walmart grocery lists and order them, all by just using their voices.

“(We’re) proud to announce that partnering with Apple, we’ve made Walmart Voice Order available on Siri,” Walmart said. “We are always looking for new ways to bring our customers the best experiences when buying Apple products from Walmart and when using their Apple devices every day.”

Once the accounts are paired, customers can begin to add groceries to their Walmart Online Grocery cart. The service works with an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, HomePod or in a vehicle with CarPlay capability.

“Customers build out their basket by just saying ‘Add to Walmart’ and then naming the product they want to add to their cart,” Walmart said. “After that, customers can place their order and Walmart personal shoppers get to work gathering the items for the customer, who can pick the order up on the way home or have it delivered right to their door.”

Walmart said the service is customer-centric and meant to help shoppers save time. The service will also learn the more it’s used. 

“For example, if a customer says, ‘add orange juice to my cart,’ we’ll make sure to add the specific orange juice the customer buys regularly. Instead of saying ‘Great Value organic orange juice with no pulp,’ they’ll simply say: ‘orange juice’ and we’ll add the right one,” Walmart said.

The retail giant said that it understands shoppers sometimes add items one at a time, over the course of a week or so, and it wanted to make sure to be available to customers through a number of devices.

Walmart Voice Order now works with all leading assistants, the company said, adding that with Online Grocery Pickup and Delivery, almost 80 percent of the country can order groceries just by using their voice.

To use the feature, customers can go to the Walmart Grocery App and pick “Voice Shopping.”
