In providing secure verification for online accounts, there are several alternatives to legacy username and password-based processes that fall under the umbrella term “advanced ID verification.”
Such solutions include technologies that make use of voice recognition, keyboard logging, liveness detection with selfies and fingerprint scans, according to Consumer Authentication Experiences, a PYMNTS and Pindrop collaboration

Although these solutions are relatively new on the scene, 29% of consumers are “very” or “extremely” interested in using advanced ID verification technologies.
The greater their familiarity with these technologies, the more consumers are interested. Among the consumers who have not used advanced ID technologies or are unsure, 13% are “very” or “extremely” interested. Among those who have used these technologies before, 57% are “very” or “extremely” interested in using them again.
Millennials and bridge millennials lead the pack in wanting to use advanced ID verification technologies, with 51% of millennials and 45% of bridge millennials saying they are “very” or “extremely” interested in using them.
Consumers who are more educated and earn higher incomes also tend to be in the forefront, with 40% of those with college degrees and 35% of those with an income of more than $100,000 saying they are “very” or “extremely” interested.
The top three reasons consumers are interested in using advanced ID technologies all involve convenience.
Nineteen percent of the consumers who are interested in advanced ID technologies say the most important driver of their interest is that they’re easier to use, while 18% says it’s that they’re more convenient to access and 15% say it’s that they’re faster to access.
Advanced ID verification solutions can streamline the customer service experience — delighting individuals who no longer will need to suffer through remembering credentials or repeating failed verification processes.
