eCommerce, BNPL, buy now pay later, Riverty Mollie

European financial service provider Mollie has partnered with buy now, pay later (BNPL) provider Riverty to offer a 30-day invoicing solution to Mollie customers.

With this solution, Mollie customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria can offer end users the option to pay later, with a payment period of up to 30 days, the companies said in a Wednesday (July 3) press release.

“By adding Riverty as a payment method, eCommerce companies can offer their customers even more freedom in the payment process,” Koen Köppen, CEO at Mollie, said in the release.

Mollie offers a solution that simplifies payments and money management and serves more than 200,000 businesses across Europe, according to the company’s website.

In the new partnership adding its BNPL option, Riverty will handle every aspect of the payment process, including payment selection, invoice acquisition, payment reminders and potential debt collection, according to the press release.

This payment method will join the more than 30 options already offered by Mollie and is expected to optimize conversion and further simplify the payment process for merchants, the release said.

The Riverty solution is integrated with Mollie so that customers can activate in their Mollie Dashboard with a few clicks, per the release.

“Joining forces with Mollie strengthens our commitment to helping our merchants to stay true to their brands while converting and retaining customers,” Jörg Schnelle, chief commercial officer at Riverty, said in the release. “We’re excited to be partnering with an ambitious and service minded FinTech player such as Mollie to make this happen.”

In another expansion of BNPL in Europe, FinTech Adyen partnered with B2B payments platform Billie in February to offer BNPL payment services to online shops and marketplaces, starting in Germany, Austria, Sweden and the Netherlands.

In January, B2B BNPL provider Mondu raised an additional 30 million euros ($33 million) to expand into new European markets and develop additional payment solutions. Mondu’s B2B payment solutions enable merchants and marketplaces to their business customers flexible payment terms online, over the phone and in the field.

BNPL for business has been gaining traction in Europe, PYMNTS reported in February 2023.
