Klarna, which operates a global payments and shopping services platform, is launching the live fashion show “Livestyle” with the help of technology from Bambuser.
Customers can now open up Bambuser’s Live Video Shopping from within the Klarna app. Sweden-based Klarna said the move was part of its effort to shift from being simply a payments provider to taking care of “the entire shopping experience,” according to a Monday (Nov. 30) press release. Klarna offers a buy now, pay later (BNPL) service.
“Sweden as a market was quick to catch up on live shopping, but so far we have only seen the beginning of this phenomenon,” said Emilia de Poret, fashion director at Klarna, said in the release. “I think it will continue to be a big trend next year as well, but in a more refined form.”
The company said, “While many live shopping events focus on sales and promotions, Livestyle focuses on inspiring content that … engages viewers.”
The release said the show is led by influencer and public relations personality Roshi Hoss, along with star stylist Sara Biderman. “New episodes of Livestyle will be released every week, and the show will be visited by several interesting guests and fashion experts,” Klarna said.
“For viewers to stay in this fast-paced format, it is essential to find the right balance of inspiration and entertainment,” Poret said. “I think we have succeeded in this.”
The first episode, produced with NA-KD, will be released Dec. 7 in Klarna’s app and on the other company’s website.
This month, Klarna announced that it has expanded to offer in-store payments services in more than 60,000 stores around the U.S., according to a press release. For one, the company offers buy now, pay later (BNPL) services.
Klarna’s latest expansion will now cover retail brands including H&M, O.N.S. Clothing, The North Face and Timberland. Customers, therefore, will now be able to access the BNPL option to buy an item and pay for it in four interest-free payments.
