Buy now, pay later (BNPL) platform Afterpay on Wednesday (Nov. 10) announced it has expanded its offering to retailers including Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack, J.Crew, Madewell, American Eagle, Aerie, Tilly’s, Morphe, Alo Yoga, Parachute Home and Le Creuset Signature Boutiques and Outlet Stores. The new partnerships allow customers of those retailers to pay for their purchases in four interest-free installments.
The initiative joins other similar tie-ups between BNPL platforms and retailers, including Klarna’s partnership with Simon Property Group.
Afterpay has also forged a partnership with Marshall Retail Group that allows customers to use the platform at airport and resort casino properties, including its InMotion locations.
“The current economic climate and supply chain issues have impacted the way consumers are shopping this holiday season, proving an even greater need for flexible shopping and payment options,” said David Di Bene, VP of retail marketing at Afterpay, in the company announcement. “By bringing our in-store capabilities to top new brands, and mixing innovation into the shopping experience, we’re helping provide consumers with greater freedom and convenience for their holiday shopping in a way that’s both fun and engaging.”
Afterpay has also teamed with Westfield shopping centers on an augmented reality (AR)-activated scavenger hunt that incorporates QR codes for shoppers to scan and unlock deals and promotions at Afterpay-backed retailers.
