Wix Adds New Features Allowing Merchants to Customize Checkout Forms

WIx

Wix added new editing options that enable merchants to customize their checkout forms.

The capabilities provide a more tailored and seamless experience for both merchants and their customers, the company told PYMNTS in an email.

The newly added features allow merchants to add custom fields to the checkout form to collect required information from the buyer, customize the layout of fields, and adjust field settings like descriptions, mandatory status and personally identifiable information requirements, according to the email.

Merchants can also control the visibility of the custom fields via conditional rules; add and customize related headers, texts and links; and preview the checkout form before saving their changes, the email said.

The data buyers enter in the merchant’s custom fields on checkout are reflected in the platform’s email, thank you page and business manager orders page, per the email.

With these customization capabilities, merchants can overcome the shortcomings of a one-size-fits-all checkout process and address both their own and their customers’ needs and preferences, the email said.

The introduction of these new capabilities for merchants comes about a week after Wix added new features for developers, saying the offerings are designed to enable more efficient building of applications and provide more monetization opportunities.

These new tools help developers create apps, craft intuitive product experiences, jumpstart app development, expand the functionality of Wix apps, optimize discoverability, achieve a Wix-certified badge, and choose a pricing plan, the company said in a July 1 press release.

“We are continuing to open the Wix no-code and low-code platform with reusable, customizable apps and AI tools, all while providing more revenue opportunities,” the company said in the release.

PYMNTS Intelligence found that Wix is the preferred eCommerce platform of 12% of Main Street small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

Wix is especially popular among low-revenue firms, as it is one of the least expensive options, according to the PYMNTS Intelligence report “Main Street Health Q4 2023: eCommerce Protects Main Street SMBs’ Bottom Line in a Cooling Market.”

In another addition to its platform, Wix said in February that it partnered with Global-e Online to offer Wix sellers a cross-border selling solution.
