Consumers are constantly looking for ways to simplify their lives; this includes everything from online banking to public transit. MasterCard now has their hand in each of these scenarios. The company announced today that it’s joining forces with Masabi, provider of mobile ticketing for transit, to set commuters free of the hassle of buying tickets for the subway or bus.
By combining MasterCard’s payment technology with Masabi’s JustRide mobile ticketing platform, commuters will now enjoy a faster and more convenient way to get around, says MasterCard.
“By combining our expertise, MasterCard and Masabi are removing the friction that slows down how people move around,” says Hany Fam, President MasterCard Enterprise Partnerships, in the release. Fam added that the partnership will also improve urban quality of life and “help authorities to better manage population growth and urban development.”
Masabi is already actively serving a number of cities including New York, London and San Diego. MasterCard and Masabi will integrate JustRide with MasterPass, MasterCard’s secure digital payment service, to allow commuters to purchase their tickets with a single touch.
