Europe’s leading self-service provider Selecta Group has partnered with payments provider and FinTech company Fiserv to roll out cashless payments in Europe, the two companies announced in a press release on Tuesday (Aug. 24).
Work to streamline operations began in summer 2021, with the roll out of the Fiserv payment platform in vending machines and smart fridges across Selecta’s 16 European markets.
According to the CEO of Selecta Group Christian Schmitz, “modern, cash-free and contactless payment options” are what consumers prioritize, adding that “with Fiserv, we will be able to deliver these options in a way that is easy for us to manage, through a single solution, while unified reporting will give us a new level of insight into our business.”
The Swiss self-service retailer offers coffee and convenience food solutions in the workplace and in public spaces, serving more than 10 million people in Europe with an annual turnover of 1 billion euros ($1.174 billion).
According to the announcement, the Swiss firm is also considering launching a mobile payment app which will provide access to Selecta loyalty program. Through a dedicated merchant portal, Selecta will be able to “streamline terminal management, including onboarding and activation, reporting and insights, maintenance and diagnostics.”
