Syracuse University on Wednesday (Aug. 25) introduced several cashless payment methods for fans to buy concessions and merchandise at Orange football games starting this fall, Syracuse.com reported.
Fans will be able to use Apple Pay, Android Pay and Google Wallet mobile payment services and major credit and debit cards as part of Syracuse’s campus-wide efforts to simplify the concession and merchandise-buying process and reduce the potential spread of COVID-19.
Cash will no longer be accepted at Carrier Dome concession stands, merchandise areas or the ticket office. This transition to cashless payments follows Syracuse’s recent switch to mobile ticketing for all athletic events at the Carrier Dome this season through fans’ MyCuse accounts.

Vendors at the venue were unable to complete transactions in the cashless stadium, but fans were able to snag free food and soda to compensate them for their inconvenience. Vendors who had been hoping to sell their products to a captive audience at SummerSlam weren’t able to do so because of the systemwide outage with third-party platform TSYS.
A vendor manager at the stadium’s Twitch Lounge said the outage came from payment processor Shift4, which runs Allegiant Stadium’s point of sale systems. The company released a statement saying they were aware of the issues with the third-party platform TSYS.
